SCORE earns SC Chapter of the Year Award

The Greater Aiken SCORE Chapter was again awarded the title of best SCORE Chapter in South Carolina. The award was announced by Gordon Magee, South Carolina SCORE District Director.

 

The award was presented to John Carman, incoming Chairman of the Greater Aiken SCORE Chapter, during a recognition dinner November 3, held at Woodside Plantation Country Club.

 

This is the second consecutive year the state wide award has been made to the Greater Aiken Chapter. Earlier this year the local SCORE Chapter was also designated a Platinum Level Chapter by the SCORE National Director, Ken Yancey. Platinum Level is the highest level of recognition for SCORE’s 340 local chapters.

 

The Greater Aiken SCORE Chapter was also a top-ten finalist for the title of National SCORE Chapter of the Year in 2016.

 

The Greater Aiken SCORE Chapter includes 38 volunteers who mentor local small businesses and entrepreneurs. They conduct individual business mentoring and coaching sessions, as well as workshops and seminars for local businesses. Seminar topics are developed in response to requests from local small businesses.

 

Currently the area served by the Greater Aiken SCORE Chapter includes five counties in South Carolina, including Aiken, and five counties in Georgia, including Columbia and Richmond.

 

Local partners for SCORE including the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce, Southern Wesleyan University, North Augusta Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Chamber of Commerce and Columbia County Chamber of Commerce.

 

The Greater Aiken SCORE Chapter also enjoys the financial support of local sponsors, including Security Federal Bank, TD Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Southern Bank, and Floyd and Green Jewelers.
